OUR COACHES
Marci Kuhrt Iverson is a Onalaska High School graduate and former Mt. La Crosse Ski Team athlete. She received a degree in kinesiology with a minor in nutrition from the U of Minnesota. She completed her masters in Sports Administration from UW-L in May of 2008. She raced on the U of MN Ski Team and in FIS throughout college. She worked with Team Gilboa for five years as junior race and J456 coach, with one year as a full-time Office Administrator and J3/J456 Coach. This is her sixth year with the team and her fourth as the Head Coach for the Mt. La Crosse Ski Team. She is also the Director of Recreation Sports at Viterbo University. This past summer she married fellow coach Derek Iverson.
Josh Blum is also a former member of the Central High School and Mt. La Crosse Ski Teams. He helped start the UW-Stout Alpine Ski Team in 1997, which is a USCSA affiliated program. He spent two years as president of the club. In 1999, he competed in both ski and snowboarding and competed at the USCSA Collegiate Nationals. Josh earned a collegiate All-American Award in Snowboarding Giant Slalom. Josh has been working with the Mt. La Crosse Ski Team for a number of years. During the summer months, you will most-likely find Josh on the Human-Powerd Trails or on his jet ski. He enjoys participating a variety of outdoor activities. Josh also works for the WI Dept of Transportation as an Engineering Specialist.
Derek Iverson is is a Onalaska High School graduate and former Mt. La Crosse Ski Team athlete. He spent a year at Stratton Mountain Academy while in high school, and after graduation, went to Colorado to continue racing. He is a former high school skiing state champion and high school national champion, as well as a top Midwestern FIS athlete with Nor-Am experience. He has participated in seven JO’s, US Nationals, Canadian Nationals, and even the Whistler Cup (Junior Worlds) as a J3 athlete. Derek has a degree in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations from UW-L. He brings a lot of knowledge and high level competitive experience to the team.
Steve Mikkelson has been a part of the Mt. La Crosse Ski Team for many years. In addition to coaching, he has been a parent. Steve has a daughter who was a member of the club and has coached on and off since the mid-1980s. He has coach many Junior Olympic champions and NCAA Division I All-Americans. Steve is a great asset to the team and has a wealth of knowledge to share with the athletes. We are glad to have him working with us. Steve is also a member of the Mt. La Crosse Ski Patrol.
Erica Stevermer is an Onalaska High School graduate and former Mt. La Crosse Ski Team athlete. She raced for St. Olaf College from 1997-2001. During her time with St. Olaf, Erica competed at the USCSA Collegiate Nationals all four years. She has a degree in Biology and Women's Studies from St. Olaf College. Erica also has a Nursing degree from Winona State University and she is now a nurse at Mayo Health Systems-Franciscan Skemp Healthcare clinic in Onalaska. This is Erica's second year coaching with the Mt. La Crosse Ski Team. We are excited to have her back for another season!
